A look behind the lens

My Passion for photography really started in a few different ways.  I am shy about getting my own pictures taken and I had only really had that done professionally at a JC Penny's studio or in school. It was always awkward and I always looked as uncomfortable as I felt. I had always dreamed of having a picture of myself (that wasn't a selfie) that I liked.. Then, I got engaged and I was not made of money. I posted on a facebook group looking for a "reasonably" priced photographer and Paula responded. Something about her just felt right. She coached me how to coordinate outfits, the best time of year for the prettiest photos, and helped me position myself in a way that hid my insecurities. That opened my eyes to what photography could be and feel like for the person getting their picture taken. Everyone has some part of their body that they are insecure about and have always hated the way it looked in photos, it's not you, it's the angles.  There are so many things about my appearance in photos that I hate, except when Paula took them. I looked beautiful. She captured our personalities as much as she did our looks. That sparked a passion in me to pass that on for others. Then my sister got engaged and didn't have any money. I used the family professional camera, purchased photo editing software, and began teaching myself everything that I could absorb to make sure that she loved her photos as much as I loved mine.  I would love to give that gift to others, to have photos of moments and big events that capture the personality of the individuals, love shared between them, and the moments that make up their life.  I believe that you should not have to take out a bank loan to afford photographs either. I believe in providing quality photos that individuals can be proud of at a price point that doesn't break the bank.
